Nocturnal Wanderings

I'm in trouble again and it's not my fault.  'Junior Her' is back for the weekend and she went out with friends on Friday night.  I'm not saying she had too much to drink but she was very affectionate when she came in and kissed me more than is perhaps hygienic, not that I'm complaining of course.  She also seemed to have the same trouble I occasionally have these days, in getting up from sitting at floor level with a degree of steadiness and elegance.  I didn't know she suffered from arthritis too...

Anyway, having come home rather late, she wandered about making cups of tea, but unfortunately, when she finally retired to her boudoir, she left the stair gate, that normally confines me to the kitchen, open.  Now I'm nothing if not an opportunist, so I had a nice nocturnal exploration of the house, and, having done the downstairs, decided to venture upstairs, a region from which I'm normally, unreasonably, excluded.  'Him Indoors' was woken up at 1.30am by me appearing in his bedroom.  He must have thought he was having a nightmare.  He then, rather unjustly, expected me to go back in the kitchen just because he asked me too.  No chance!  We played a fun game of 'chase the small dog' with 'Him' getting increasingly grumpy, and 'Her Indoors' keeping well out of it, feigning sleep upstairs.  Needless-to-say, 'Junior Her' slept unawares throughout the whole thing.

'Him Indoors' is not a good sleeper at the best of times, so this seriously disturbed his night's sleep.  The only good thing was that on this occasion, I was in less trouble than 'Junior Her'.  As I keep pointing out when these little mishaps happen, it's not my fault.....

Back behind bars.....
